I am holding out for that fan-made transaction to be completed, or an official US release - which might actually happen some day. It did only take them 21 years to release the real Super Mario Bros. 2 in the United States, instead of Doki Doki Panic with Mario sprites.

Well, there could be a glimmer of hope...
EarthBound was recently rated by the ESRB for Virtual Console. Which means it could be released sometime soon (or not; Super Mario RPG had been rated since the Wii launched...). If it is, I expect each and every one of you that owns a Wii to download it ASAP! Show them people DO care about the series!


There was also a rumor a while back of a EarthBound compilation for the DS... But will probably be nothing more than that: a rumor.


Interesting sidenote: As many people already know, MOTHER (Famicom) was officially translated by NOA. However, due to the time in which the translation was completed, the Super NES was already out, and NOA execs felt like releasing an NES game now would be a bad decision. Many features (i.e. run button) and censored images (crosses removed) were in the EarthBound "Zero" prototype.
What's really interesting is this altered/censored version was used for the version of MOTHER in the GBA compilation, MOTHER 1+2.

The new GM's should answer this as well...
